Vegan Scratch Biscuits

Yield = 8 biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 Tbsp vegan butter
  • 1/2 - 3/4 cups water
  • Optional:
    • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
    • 1 Tbsp dried or fresh rosemary

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 430 degrees F
  2. Add flour, baking powder, salt and optional spices to a large mixing bowl
  3. Melt butter in the microwave or over stove top
  4. Add butter and 1/2 c water to mixing bowl 
  5. Using hand or standing mixer mix until ingredients are combine
  6. If consistency is dry and crumbly, add in more water only up to 3/4 c total of water
    Note: the more water and looser the consistency of the dough, the flatter the biscuit
  7. Let biscuit dough sit for 10 minutes near oven as it warms up 
  8. Hand shape 8 biscuits and put onto a baking sheet
  9. Bake for 12 - 15 minutes or until desired golden brown level
